Home Remedies for Sinus Congestion

Sinus congestion is a huge discomfort to a lot of people. Among many home remedies for sinus congestion, taking "Steam" is considered the best! Sinus congestion is due to the thick mucus present inside your nasal cavity. If you take steam from boiling water, it would open up the nasal blockage and you would be able to breath properly. A lot of people know about steaming but many of them don't really know how to do it. To get the best out of steam you should follow these steps. Now, you don't have to exactly do what I say but this will help you get an idea:
  1. Boil about 4-5 cups of water. You can boil more or less if you want.
  2. After the water has boiled, pour it into a bowl. Remember to do it quickly because you don't want the steam to escape.
  3. Now, grab a towel and put it over your head and the bowl. The idea is to make a connection between the steam coming out of the bowl directly to you face. The more you are careful with covering your head and bowl with towel, the more time the steam would last for, giving you the maximum benefit.
  4. At the beginning when you'll start to do this, you would feel quite warm on your eyes and cheeks. It's OK to take a few seconds break and do it again. However, it is recommended to do it in a stretch for about 10-15 minutes.
  5. After you're done doing that drain out the water and sit somewhere where it's not cold and remember to keep yourself warm. Keeping yourself warm after steaming is very important because otherwise it would be a mixture of cold and hot air and the process will not be beneficial for you.
Home remedies for sinus congestion work very effectively and provide you with the best of the comforts. Steaming is been proven very affective for any blockage in the nasal cavity. During the process of steaming you'll find a little discomfort to your eyes because the hot steam would be going directly on your face. It's best to close your eyes while you're doing it. In the first 10-20 seconds you'll notice that your nose is opening up and your chest is aching less. Repeat the process about three times a day and it will provide you a lot of comfort from nasal or sinus congestion.
